A Family Affair

Swimming is very important to the Fowler family

Jose Luis Fowler and his 12 year old son George are looking forward to challenging each other in the 2.8km Sovereign Corsair Classic.  This will be their fourth race in the 2009 / 2010 series and their fifth race together, but soon the whole family will be joining in.

"I believe that fitness in the family is extremely important and swimming is the best way to ensure that we all stay fit.  George (12) and Estafana (10) both swim with me at Tri-Squads three times a week.  In addition,  George plays rugby and water polo and Estafana plays hockey and I participate in Ironman.  The difference in fitness is obvious amongst their school mates.  Ocean swimming gives me as a parent the assurance that my children are confident swimmers and for their perspective they gain an appreciation and respect for the sea.  Estafana is aiming to complete an ocean swim later this year too.  Our youngest daughter Prudence (7) will be joining us with her mother for the Sovereign King of the Bays in 2013, so the whole family will be participating soon!"
