| Swim Goggles

|
Quality goggles should fit snuggly without being too tight, protect the swimmer’s eyes and help them see better whilst in the water. We recommend blueseventy’s Vision goggles, which are endorsed as the official goggle of the FINA 10km Open Water World Champs. They provide the swimmer with 180 degrees vision with curved lenses, are anti-fog and have UV protection for those long ocean swims. |
Swim Cap |
Swim caps come in latex and silicon and will keep your hair out of your face and can keep your goggles strap anchored if positioned under the cap. They are not available for purchase on the oceanswim.co.nz website, but can be purchased from any blueseventy stockist. We recommend you get used to wearing swim caps as they are compulsory at all of our State Ocean Swim events. |
Kickboard
|
Kickboards, constructed from EVZ, are high floatation devices primarily used to develop kicking technique and strengthen legs whilst keeping the swimmer’s upper body afloat. They are mostly used in pool training sessions and many pools have them available for your use. They are available in child’s / adult’s sizes. |
Paddles |
Swim paddles, with their increased surface space, give extra pull to your stroke through the water. They also increase the load / workout on your shoulders and arms, resulting in further conditioning if you already have developed muscles or injury if you are just starting out. For this reason, they are only recommended for conditioned swimmers. |
Pull buoy |
Pull buoys, which are positioned between the legs, are used to focus on upper body strengthening, whilst keeping the legs still and afloat. They are a contoured design to fit snuggly between the legs, with a smooth finish to prevent chaffing. |
Fins (flippers) |
Fins come in various shapes and sizes and are used to propel swimmers through the water, create more buoyancy and a more developed kick for swimmers.Short blade fins isolate the quadriceps and hamstrings which is great for a swimmer / triathlete, whereas long fins strengthen the legs and provide a swifter speed for the swimmer. |
