The Banana Boat Ocean Swim Series team finally returns to the tranquil, and warm waters of the Far North!

The Bay of Islands once again plays host to one of the most scenic harbour crossings on the yearly swim calendar. The premier event – The Beach to Bay 3.3km is guaranteed to leave you in awe as you leave one of the far norths most stunning beaches, and then find your feet on the heritage-rich, quaint and quiet, seaside town of Russell, Bay of Islands. It is going to challenge you just as much as it is going to blow your mind.

And of course, with many more distances on offer – this is one for the whole family! The Banana Boat OceanKids will hold 2 different distances to tire the kids out before you go and enjoy some of the beauitiful sights, sounds, & food Russell has to offer.

Introducing for the FIRST TIME in the Bay of Islands – the Amphibian!
Swim, run …. & SWIM! Take it on with your mates after your main swim and settle a few scores on a flat, fun, run to mix it up. Its great way to enjoy an exhibition style event for a little added flair to your day.

Event Day General Info

Event location

The event headquarters is located at The Village Green, Russell – and Paihia Beach, Paihia

Swim Pack Pick Up

ALL swimmers can collect their pack from the Russell Green Friday 6 May between 1pm – 5pm

On event day, Saturday 7 May,  Swim Packs for the 3.3km Swim will be in Paihia at the event start. All other swims can collect their pack from Russell. Please refer to the event timetable for times.

Swim caps & start groups

As part of your swim pack you will receive a silicon swim cap. Each start group has a different coloured cap. Start groups are determined by the speed group you selected in the entry form.

The start groups are calculated by our operations team and are organised by speed groups & entry numbers. These can vary from event to event and we are reluctant to change these as it can affect results.

Results

Live results will be available as soon as you have crossed the finish line. The results link will be updated prior to event day

Post-event nutrition

Once you have crossed the finish line one of our awesome crew will be there to meet you with some SOS Hydration or water and a Banana.

BYO drink bottle

As part of our goal to have a greener footprint, we will no longer be offering drinking cups so please remember to bring your own drink bottle. Thanks to the awesome team at SOS Hydration, you can fill your bottle with SOS or water. Look out for our new water station and stay hydrated!

Prizegiving

Prizegiving will be held on the Russell Village green straight after the Amphibian finishes.

 

Amphibian details

Swim, run …. & SWIM! Take it on with your mates after your main swim and settle a few scores on a flat, fun, run to mix it up. Its great way to enjoy an exhibition style event for a little added flair to your day.

We recommend that you wear a swim/run suit so that you can complete the entire Amphibian wearing it saving you valuable time. You can wear a full wetsuit if you wish. There will be a designated transition space for you to place your running shoes and towel and anything else you need after your first swim.

Safety

All Banana Boat New Zealand Ocean Swim Series events are patrolled by trained lifeguards and first aid qualified personnel who are present to assist you at all times.

So that the events are safe and enjoyable for all swimmers, there are some rules for the event. Find out more here.

Bag Storage

3.3km Swimmers – We will transfer a small gear bag for you from Paihia to Russell for you. Please label your bags.

All other swimmers, there will be a designated bag drop area for you on the Russell Village Green. Please note that this is an all-care, no responsibility service so please don’t pack valuables.
