Nadine Chalmers-Ross, TVNZ Business reporter will be one of the 1600 swimmers taking the plunge at the State King of the Bays this weekend. She is really looking forward to challenging herself with the 2.8km distance, which will be the longest distance she has ever swam, and whilst swimming has not always been her ‘thing’ she says she has enjoyed challenging herself.
Nadine is swimming the 2.8km alongside double Olympian and Commonwealth Games silver medalist Dean Kent who has been coaching her at the Northern Arena for the past 8-10 weeks. Dean says she is getting more confident by the day is excited about taking on the challenge.
Nadine will be joined by fellow broadcasters Michelle Pickles (TV3) who has taken part previously, and Charlotte Bellis (Prime). Other TV newsreaders who have taken part in the series in recent years include Peter Williams and Toni Street from TVNZ.
